World Environment Day

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) Unit of the GRT College of Nursing organized a campus cleanliness drive at GRT Ladies Hostel to promote environmental awareness and hygiene among nursing students. The main objective of the program was to create awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean environment, proper waste disposal, and sustainable living practices. Nursing students, along with faculty coordinators, actively participated in the drive by cleaning hostel surroundings, corridors, and common areas. They also collected and segregated waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable materials and removed plastic waste from the premises. Awareness about reducing the use of single-use plastics and maintaining daily cleanliness was also emphasized through informal interactions and posters. The students played an active role in educating hostel residents about environmental protection and demonstrated proper waste management practices. The program helped improve cleanliness in the hostel environment and encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly habits in their daily lives. Overall, the cleanliness drive was a meaningful and successful initiative that strengthened the connection between environmental health and nursing practice while promoting responsibility and teamwork among students.
