Dr. R. Padmavathi, Ph.D (N), is an experienced Nursing Educator, Researcher, and Academic Administrator with more than 28 years of professional experience in nursing education, clinical practice, research, and institutional leadership. She is currently serving as the Principal of GRT College of Nursing, Tiruttani. She completed her B.Sc Nursing and M.Sc Nursing from Omayal Achi College of Nursing affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, securing First Class in both degrees, and obtained her Ph.D in Nursing from the same university. She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counseling and Guidance and a Certificate Course in Basic Counseling Skills. Her professional journey includes positions as Clinical Instructor, Staff Nurse at Apollo Hospital Chennai, Lecturer/Reader at Omayal Achi College of Nursing, Principal at BKR College of Nursing, and Vice Principal at MMM College of Nursing before assuming her present role.
She has actively contributed to nursing education, public health, and research through organizing and participating in numerous international and national conferences, seminars, workshops, faculty development programmes, and webinars. She has served as a resource person in areas such as Community Health Nursing, Research Methodology, Epidemiology, Disaster Preparedness, Public Health Nursing, and OSCE/OSPE Evaluation Strategies. Her major research interests include obesity reduction programmes, non-communicable diseases, adolescent nutrition, community health nursing, psychological well-being and nursing education.
She has guided UG, PG, and Ph.D research scholars and serves as a Ph.D guide, co-guide, and doctoral advisory committee member in reputed universities. She has published several research papers in national and international journals and has received many recognitions including the Best Paper Award at an International Conference held at IIT Madras, Renowned Teacher Award (2019), Research Excellence Award (2022), Seva Ratna Award (2023), and Pudhumaipen Award (2024). She has also served as examiner, inspector, and academic expert for The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research and the Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council.
