TNAI - 30TH SNAI BIENNIAL CONFERENCE

On Behalf of GRT college of Nursing, Student Nurses Association- 2 faculty members and 5 students were deputed to attend the 30th National Biennial conference at Thyagaraj stadium, INA, New Delhi with the theme Empowering Nursing student: Prospects and challenges from 28.11.2023 to 29.11.2023. A colorful state parade ceremony was conducted on the stage around 3.00pm. One of our student Ms.Amala., I year B.Sc.Nursing took part in the parade representing Tamil Nadu state SNA unit. After that Dr.Jothi clara micheal, Director of Nursing, IHH Healthcare India, taken a stage and delivered a vibrating speech to the audience on the topic of Investing in Nursing.

The most significant day of student’s life chapter, GRT CON, SNA organized swearing in ceremony at GRT CON auditorium on 25.10.2023 between 1.30 to 3.00 pm. This auspicious event began with prayer song and lighting kuthuvillaku by the dignitaries. A formal welcome address was given by Ms.Mahadevi.G, ex-SNA Vice President. Then the President of SNA unit, Dr.Padmavathi.R announced the winners of Vice president, secretary, chair- person and assistant chairperson of various post to the audience. Followed by oath was pronounced by the principal. Then the programme continued with previous year report presentation and achievements by Ms.Mahadevi.G, Vice president and Ms.Leena mery viviliya, Secretary. The last year budget and expenses details were narrated by Ms.Mohana Priya, Treasurer. At last the programme was ended with Vote of thanks and National anthem.

SNA ELECTION

SNA Unit conducted election on 14.10.2023 and 15.10.2023 at Admission hall between 1.00 to 5.00 pm. Ms.Gracy, Assistant professor and Ms. Poornima.,Clinical instructor was appointed as election officers. The carefully scrutinized final nomination list was posted outside the hall and all students were given adequate time and ballot sheets individually to fill the names of their future leader. The students of all four years including ANM students were given chance to cast their votes. A total of 339 votes were collected through ballot box and sealed box was handed over to the SNA Advisor.

STATE LEVEL COMPETITIONS

The Tamil Nadu XXX state SNAI Biennial Conference 2023 was held at Dharan College of Nursing, Salem from 11.08.2023 to 12.08.2023 with the theme empowering nursing students: Prospects and challenges. A total of 3 faculty and 24 students participated. Totally 157 Nursing colleges and 2600 student nurses were participated from various colleges. On 11.08.2023 students participated in various competition. On 12.08.2023 State SNA general body meeting was conducted followed by SNA Election, SNA diary and Best SNA unit evaluation was done. The conference was ended with valedictory session and our students bagged with Third prize in quiz competition.

MOTIVATIONAL TALK

SNA of GRTCON in coordination with Y4N Tamilnadu and puducherry conducted a motivational and awareness talk programme on “Nationalism and patriotism & Opportunities for nurses in defense forces” on 03.08.2023. The key speakers of the programme was Dr. J.S. Raj kumar, Specialist general, lap.surgeon, Dip.NB (General surgery), FRCS ( Edinburgh), FRCS (England, Glasgow, Ireland), Founder lifeline group of hospitals and Major Madhan Kumar, PGCBM-XLRI, Jamshedpur, B.Tech ( Textile tech), Retired Indian army, Trooper India services pvt.ltd, logistics, safety & Security consultant. The programme was started with formal welcome address by Mrs. L.Jayanthy, Associate professor followed by the introduction of guest speaker by Dr.Padmavathi.R, Principal. A total of 390 students and 25 faculties attended this programme and benefitted. It was an eye opener for most of our students to choose Army nursing as their career.

SNA of GRTCON conducted knowledge enrichment programme on ‘Ethical aspects of death and dying, ethical considerations around organ donation on 02.08.2023. Dr. Parul Mistry MD, MA, Chief business officer – Global trustr was the resource person and she enlightened the ethical principles and importance of organ donation in current situation. The participants committed themselves that they also will donate organs.

MEGA MEDICAL CAMP

SNA of GRTCON in coordination with Trustr, Healia Digital and Life Line Hospitals conducted Mega Health Check up at Pothaturpet, Tiruvallur District on 06.08.2023. A total of 390 B.Sc(N) and ANM students involved in the screening programme. The camp started around 8.00 am. The following clinical parameters like heart rate, respiratory rate, SPO2, Stress level, and BP was identified through face scanning which was achieved by the app developed by Trustr. The programme also aims to achieve world record to screen 10000 populations within one hour. By the great effort of all the students we were able to screen more than 11000 populations within one hour.

WORLD RECORD EVENT

GRT College and school of nursing commemorated the world heart day 2023 by doing world record attempt of 26 hours nonstop talk show regarding heart care awareness. Adjudicators from kalam’s world records evaluated the event for two days. The event took place on 28.09.2023 at 9.00 am and lasted for a record breaking 26 hours that is on 29.09.2023 at 12.20 pm. A total of 352 B.Sc.(N), ANM students and faculty members enthusiastically participated and they were awarded by Kalam’s World Record. To promote inclusivity students were encouraged to talk in different languages like English, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada.

TRAINING ON TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF MEGA MEDICAL CAMP

GRT CON, Student nurses association organized Training programme on ‘Technical aspects of mega medical camp’ on 02.08.2023 at 09.00 to 12.30pm. The programme started with warm welcome address by Mrs. Jayanthy L, followed by the introduction of the Chief Guest and programme by Dr.Padmavathi.R, Principal. Dr.Parul mistry, MD MA,Chief business officer –global trustr, Ms.Marta Murphy, Global COO & APAC, CEO trustr, Mr. Vidya gudapati, technology lead, and Mr.Dinesh kumar, co-ordinator, Trustr gave wonderful training about the trustr app, its operation and application on patients. Student’s volunteers were divided into 3 batches and got training. The programme ended around 12.30pm.

ZONEL LEVEL COMPETITIONS

GRT College and school of Nursing, Student Nurses association participated in the TNAI –SNAI zonal level competition held at karpaga Vinayaga College of Nursing, Madhuranthagam (Zone-II) on 06.07.2023. A total of 700 Nursing students from in and around Tiruvallur district competed for 16 events at zone level and zone to state level. A total of 28 students from GRT CON & SON exhibited their talents in the events and won First place for Vegetable carving, Pencil sketching & Hair do, second place for Poster presentation & Comedy time and Third place for Best SNA unit, Best SNA dairy & Dance competition.

15th LAMP LIGHTING

The Lamp Lighting Ceremony of the 15th batch of B.Sc N and 6th batch of ANM students of GRT College and school of Nursing was held on 23rd December 2023 at GRT CON Auditorium, Tiruttani. Mrs.Jayanthy, Associate Professor welcomed the gathering. A total of 74 students of first year B.Sc Nursing and ANM students lit the lamp and took oath in this Ceremony to uphold the values of Nursing Profession. Dr.Padmavati.R, Principal, GRTCON pronounced the Nurse’s pledge and Dr.Arumugam Dean i/c, GRT Group of educational institution gave presidential address. Dr. Jayanthi Tarugu, Principal, Apollo College of Nursing, Chitoor was the chief guest. She has highlighted the significance of the lamp lighting ceremony, value and status of nursing profession. The ceremony ended with vote of thanks by Prof. Chitra.A.I.

INDUCTION PROGRAM

15th Induction Day Programme was organized on 4.10.2023 at GRTCON Auditorium. The Program was started with Tamilthaivazhthu followed by the formal Welcome speech by Mrs. Nirmala, Associate Professor and the traditional Lighting of lamp by Principal, senior faculty memebers and Parents. The Presidential address was given by Dr. S. Arumugam, Dean in-charge. The College has an amazing ambience and conducts activities and event's overflowing with vigor which was explained by Mrs. Thilagavathi Senior Faculty. Prof. A. I. Chitra ,Vice Principal introduced the team of 1st yr Faculty Members. Dr. Padmavathi. R Principal mentioned the Rules and Regulations. The Program was ended at 1.30pm with Vote of thanks by Mrs.Sivaranjani, Asst.Professor.

ANNUAL DAY

14th Annual Day was Celebrated on 19.07.2023 at GRT Mahalakshmi Vidhyalaya School Auditorium. The Principal Dr.R.Padmavathi presented the annual report accentuating the progress of the college throughout the year. The College Bi-annual News Letter- issue 04 was released by the honorable Chief guest Dr.Vedanayaki, Principal, Thalapathy Vinayagam Arts and Science College for Women and gave a very inspirational speech. The academic excellence & Subject wise Meritorious awards of the students for 2020-2021 & 2021-2022 academic year was awarded with Memento and Certificate of Merit.

ANNUAL SPORTS MEET

Annual sports meet Avirbhav- 2023 was conducted on 19.07.2023. Mr.Vignesh.T, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tiruttani Sub-division, Thiruvallur District was invited as chief guest. Flag hoisting was done –National flag by Mr.Vignesh.T, DSP, Olympic flag by Dr.Arumugam.M, Dean In-charge, GRT group of Institutions and College flag by Dr.Padmavathi.R Principal, GRT College of Nursing. March Past started and judged by the Chief guest. Olympic torch was lighted by Dr.Padmavathi.R, Principal, GRT CON and it was received by Mr.Vignesh.T and lit the Olympic lamp. All the winners of sport events were awarded with memento and certificates.

LAMP LIGHTING – 04.01.2023

The lamp lighting ceremony for the 14th batch of B.Sc (N) and 5th Batch of ANM students of GRT College and School of Nursing was held on 4th January 2023 at the GRT CON Auditorium.

The programme commenced with a prayer song performed by B.Sc nursing students. Dr. Susila C. Governing Council Member, The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Principal, Billroth College of Nursing, Chennai was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Prof. Chitra AI, Vice Principal, Department of OBG Nursing welcomed the gathering. The august dignitaries on the dais lighted the lamp and inaugurated the ceremony. The dignitaries along with the faculty lit the lamps of 100 BSc (N) and 12 ANM students which symbolizes wisdom, knowledge and compassion, followed by recitation of oath, pledging themselves to uphold the duties as a professional Nurse, pronounced by Dr. Padmavathi, Principal, GRT College of Nursing.

Chief guest, Dr. Susila C. in her address to the gathering applauded the students for choosing the nursing profession and stressed the selfless service that every nurse should possess in their profession. Dean Dr. Meenakshi Sundaram emphasized the importance of commitment and punctuality in the profession. The ceremony ended at 01.00 pm by vote of thanks conveyed on behalf of the organizers by Prof. Sivagami P., Professor to the august gathering of around 300 members.

NSS MEDICAL CAMP - 06.01.2023

NSS unit of GRTCON organized a general medical camp in coordination with MSSW Chennai. The activities carried out were medical checkup, awareness talk on hygiene and Nutrition and donation of sarees and bed sheets to all the family ( Around 45 ) at soganour tribal village.

NATIONAL YOUTH DAY - 12.01.2023

As a part of YRC activity GRTCON organized National Youth Day celebration - 2023 at GRTCON auditorium with the theme of viksit yuva: viksit Bharat. Our guest speaker Dr.Rajesh Babu MSc., M.Ed, World Record Achiever in mathematics. Students actively involved by giving speech about Swamy Vivekanandha, by reciting poems about youth’s energy and also by presenting poster prepare on quotes and thoughts of Swamy Vivekanandha. He gave an enlighting speech about "Rules of success" and shown videos on women legends and importance of being energetic person and he motivated the students to create own path, delete the negative people around them. He advised students to work hard for success. It was an Eye opening session to all students. Totally 100 students from final year B.Sc nursing, ANM first and second year actively participated.

PONGAL CELEBRATIONS 2023 - 13.01.2023

As part of SNA, a Pongal celebration was organised at GRTCON campus. Dr. Murugan H.O.D. of Tamil dept. of DG Vaishnava college Chennai, was the chief guest. Celebration included making sweet Pongal and offering to lord Surya Narayana and then traditional Indian folk dances like mylattum, puliattum, oyillattum, parrayattam, silambattum, karagattam and villupattu were carried out. Debate on “youngsters should be guided to education or culture” was conducted under the judgeship of Dr. Kavitha, GRTCOE. Traditional culture was oriented and reminded to everyone. At last firing motivational talk was given by the chief guest. Nearly 450 students and faculty members were actively involved in the program. On the whole it was an awesome event which made the youngsters enjoy as well energise them towards the traditional values.

NATIONAL VOTER’S DAY CELEBRATION - 25.01.2023

GRT College of Nursing observed National Voter’s Day on 25.01.2023. Volunteers of the YRC unit organized a rally at Maddur village to create awareness about the importance of voting. YRC Tiruvallur district officials and the Village Panchayat leader Mr. Mani inaugurated the rally and students carried awareness plug cards and educated the public.

GRT College of Nursing observed National Voter’s Day on 25.01.2023. Volunteers of NSS unit organized an oath taking ceremony by all our nursing students to create awareness about the importance of voting and also to create the spirit of voting in each and every individual. RED RIBBON CLUB INAUGURATION - 31.01.2023

The Red Ribbon Club was inaugurated at GRT College and School of Nursing on 31.01.2023 to create awareness among the youth about HIV/AIDS. Mr. Pugazh, Deputy Director, IEC Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society was the chief guest and gave the inaugural address highlighting the vision, mission and guidelines about the RRC.

WORLD LEPROSY DAY - 30.01.2023

B.Sc Nursing first year students took part in the Leprosy day observation held at Arakkonam Government Hospital on 30.01.2023. Awareness about Leprosy was given by the H.O.D. of the Leprosy unit. Following that a pledge was taken and a rally was held inside the hospital campus. On account of World Leprosy day observation B.Sc Nursing 2nd year students visited Gremaltes Leprosy Hospital at Shenoy nagar, Chennai. Our students actively participated in various activities planned by them. It was a blissful moment for all our students to be at a world renowned leprosy care centre. As a part of the YRC activity we organized a leprosy awareness program at Tiruttani municipality. Health inspector second year students conducted a rally and oath taking along with the public to eradicate leprosy. Tiruttani municipality commissioner Mr. Rama Jayam M.com, inaugurated the program.

WORLD CANCER DAY CELEBRATIONS- 10.02.2023

World Cancer Day is observed on the 4th of February of every year. The SNA and YRC units of GRT College of Nursing organized an outreach program to educate school students about Cancer at Government Higher Secondary School, Amirthapuram. The Associate Professor, Mrs Jayanthy. L., gave a presentation to the students regarding various aspects of Cancer and its prevention and clarified the doubts of the students. Nearly 100 students benefited from the program. Volunteers of the SNA unit of GRT College of Nursing organized a Cancer Awareness program at RSRM hospital Chennai by giving health education using flashcards and posters and also a mime show. It was an exciting session for the antenatal mothers and other women who attended the OP and students received overwhelming responses. Nearly 40 mothers benefited from the program.

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING (BLS) - 20.02.2023 to 21.02.2023

GRT College of Nursing- IQAC in coordination with Impetus Healthcare Skills Pvt.Ltd, Chennai organized a two days curriculum enrichment activity on Basic Life Support Training for the first Semester B.Sc (N) students. The trainers assessed the pre-test knowledge and gave both theoretical and skill-based training to all the students individually. Post-test was conducted after the training. Students felt enriched with practical training and enjoyed the sessions. Trainers appreciated the students' attentiveness, discipline, fast learning and interest to learn, and it was a wonderful experience for both students and trainers.

Tiruvallur District Collector Dr. Alby John Varghese inaugurates First Responder Training Centre at GRT College of Nursing, Tiruttani

Tamil Nadu Apex Skill Development Centre for Healthcare (TNASDCH) has empanelled GRT College of Nursing as the district training centre for First Responder Training. The training centre was inaugurated by Dr. Alby John Varghese, Tiruvallur District Collector on 23.02.2023. Mr. Sugan Chinna Maran, Head of operations TNASDCH gave brief information about the action plan for Training course. Dr. Meenakshi Sundaram, Dean, of GRT Groups informed us that all the students and faculty members of the GRT groups will be given First Responder Training. Dr Padmavathi. R, the Principal gave a brief note about the Collector's achievements in her welcome address which was motivating to 350 nursing students who participated in the program. Dr. Alby John Varghese in his address thanked the dean for accepting to train all students and staff and appreciated the GRT management for initiating this training centre. He also highlighted the value of the nursing profession and informed that First Aid is the only care an injured person might need and it doesn’t always require expert or sophisticated equipment. A trained person can handle the situation with available resources and avoid major losses. The district collector also released the Bi-annual College of Nursing newsletter. The program came to an end with a vote of thanks from Mrs. Jayanthy. L Associate Professor and national anthem.

Dr.Parveen Sulthana Motivational Speech at GRT College of Nursing

International Women’s day was celebrated at GRT College of Nursing on 06.03.2023 with various activities. Students organized panel discussion on Sangakala Pengal, Mimes on gender issues, speech on women legends and songs related to women empowerment were sung. The GRT Management organized motivational speech by Dr.Parveen Sulthana on the topic Peridhunum Peridhu Kel to highlight the importance of service oriented profession and to motivate the young Nursing students. It was a firing and thought provoking speech which highlighted self respect, self reliance, goal achievements, avoiding and handling of deviation which made the students to get goosebumps. Students were made to realize the real life challenges.

3rd All Alumnae Homecoming Sprited Sparkly Event 2023

GRT College of Nursing celebrated 3rd All Alumnae homecoming Sprited Sparkly Event 2023 on 08.06.2023 between 11.30 am to 01.30 pm at GRTCON auditorium.The chief guest was Mr. Steve Danny M.A English, CELTA Cambridge.,Ph.D and gave message on Introduction To Outside World As Nurse. Totally 115 alumnae members attended the program and few of them shared their experiences of GRT and outside world. They were very much impressed about the NEWS LETTER content and the cultural events. The special camp fire, culturals and dinner was arranged on 07.06.2023 night at hostel. All the alumnae members were happy about our developments and they all assured to be connected with us always.

9th Graduation Ceremony at GRT College of Nursing

The Convocation ceremony of GRT CON for the 9th batch of B.Sc. Nursing students was held on 8th June 2023 from 9.30 am to 11.30 am at GRT CON Auditorium. The programme started with an invocation and lamp lighting by esteemed dignitaries. Dr.Arumugam S, Dean i/c, GRT Group of Educational Institutions welcomed the gathering.

Shri. G R Ananthapadmanabhan, Managing Director, GRT Group of Educational Institutions delivered Presidential Address. Dr. Ani Grace Kalaimathi.S, Registrar, The TamilNadu Nurse and Midwives Council, Chennai was the Chief Guest and conferred the degree to 58 graduates. College report was presented by Dr.Padmavathi.R, Principal. Best Academic performer, Best Clinical performer and Best Out going student award was presented to Ms.Swetha.R, Ms. Yuvasree.P and Ms. Anbarasi.M respectively.

Dr. Ani Grace Kalaimathi.S, Registrar, The TamilNadu Nurse and Midwives Council in her speech congratulated the students and stressed on the importance of nursing profession in patient care, highlighted the quality of Nursing education and etiquette to become a noble Nurse in her speech. She also released the Annual Alumnae newsletter. The program came to an end with a vote of thanks by Prof. Chitra A I, Vice Principal, GRT College of Nursing.
